Trolls and how to deal with them...

Excerpted from the GF TOS:

Trolling (Inciting flames) - Messages intended solely to annoy and/or offend other users by going against the clear nature of a board, topic or chat room are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: provoking other users to respond with flames;

These come people who are the following;

- attention whores
- troublemakers
- people who get off sexually when they do this

Otherwise known as trolls.

Trolls are easily dealt with once you spot them. Spotting them, well, that's the tricky part.

Beginner trolls are easy to spot. It's not hard to tell with their posting style. Most trolls fall into this catagory.

Mid level trolls are a little harder to spot. Usually they stick with a annoying gimmick and use it well. But once again, can be easily dealt with once you realize it.

High level trolls are REALLY hard to spot. They're good at debating. They stick with a opinion and ride that sucker into the ground. Doesn't matter if they're right or wrong. They're especially annoying if they think they're right.

All trolls don't care if they hurt your feelings or anything. Their main purpose is to disrupt the boards as much as possbile and get everyone else into trouble.

The trolls method of attack is to annoy as much users as possible and step back while the other users respond to the trolls posts. Then if a poster goes a little overboard, the troll will Mark the posters posts for moderation, thus getting people into trouble while nothing happens to them.

It isn't fair for that to happen, but there are ways to deal with them.

- go with the joke. They don't except you to go with their nonsense so this throws them off guard.

- act like you don't care/ignore it. If they see that they don't bother you, they will realize they're wasting their time.

- or throw it back them. This usually throws them off guard.

These usually work on your run of the mill troll. But if you run into a high level troll, watch it...they're persistent.

Overall, you don't want to EVER let the troll know s/he is getting to you. That's his/her whole point.

The only reason I'm posting this is because there's this one troll by the name of smoothy something or other. He already had 2 accounts banned already. So he's doesn't care.

I try and tell and them my fellow posters not to let him bother them. But it's doesn't work all the time.

But I have my ways of dealing with trolls like him...
