What is California smoking?

From: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-pottax24-2009feb24,0,7534269.story

It seems California wants to legalize pot and then tax it to death to try and solve their economic woes.

An assemblyman from San Francisco announced legislation Monday to do just that: make California the first state in the nation to tax and regulate recreational marijuana in the same manner as alcohol.

I'm sure some 'toker' somewhere, is already planning a trip out to L.A.

But as usual, some people don't like it...

"This would open another door in Pandora's box," said Calvina Fay, executive director of Save Our Society From Drugs. "Legalizing drugs like this would create a whole new set of costs for society."

Oh, yea, like building new prisons, adding new cops, drug edumakation, etc.

At this point, it costs more to try and get rid of the stuff than it would be to just let people smoke it.

Come on, now, let's be a little realistic here. You're not gonna rid of the stuff. People are still gonna smoke it. So why not let them enjoy it, let natural selection take its course and make some money while you're at it?

Now, if that happens, maybe we can convince the other 49 states besides Nevada to legalize prostitution, we'd be set...

Thanks for reading,

Later!

prostitution is only legal in certain Nevada counties. Not thru out the whole state. And u think we have as a nation, a big problem with drinking alcohol and driving. All we need is to say okay to pot. Then we'll have stoned drivers on the road beside the drunk ones. Just open up all the flood gates n have no restrictions on anything anymore! Is that wat u mean by natural selection? We need to make our streets safer; not more dangerous. I wouldn't want my taxicab driver, or school bus driver, being legally able to get buzzed/stoned from maijuana, and then going to work.....would u feel safer? i think nah......n u know people can't be trusted 2 use good, sound judgement themselves(concerning their behavior.)drunk drivers r enuff to deal with.

Well, it's only gonna be in California right now, so we're gonna see how it works over there.

With all these other drugs out there, pot seems like a lesser of any evils out there...
